Danila Izotov was first to win gold at the Russian Swimming Championships in Kazan. He showed best result in the morning session although because of the bad weather in Volgograd the swimmer had to take a car and drive it to Kazan. He finished almost two seconds ahead of his nearest competitor, meeting the qualifying time for the FINA World Championships.
Women's 200m butterfly

Veronika Popova of St. Petersburg confirmed her status as one of the tournament's favourites, posting a confident win. Nevertheless, she narrowly missed the qualifying standard by fractions of a second - 2:06.56.
Women's 400m individual medley
1. Yana Martynova, Republic of Tatarstan – 4:31.14
2. Viktoria Malyutina, Penza Oblast – 4:32.82
3. Viktoria Andreeva, Penza Oblast – 4:35.34
Tatarstan's Yana Martynova added another victory to her collection of gold medals. She was first in the morning session and later confirmed her dominance in the final. Martynova's result allowed her to meet the qualifying time and earn a spot in the FINA World Championships (4:32.82).
