Ak Bars finishes regular championships without medals

Ak Bars Kazan has finished the CHL’s regular season, beating Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk with 6:0.

The Kazan club scored four goals to 16th minutes. Sergei Kostitsyn and Ilya Nikulin made the score 2-0 inside three minutes and Artyom Lukyanov and Ilya Nikulin made it 4-0 by the first intermission. Igor Mirnov and Stepan Zakharchuk added two more goals for the visitor. Anders Nilsson made 28 saves for his shut-out.

Ak Bars won the Western Conference and Valery Kharlamov’s division. The club will play against Avtomobilist from Yekaterinburg in the first round of the playoffs.

However, the Kazan team has no medals. CSKA leads the championships, SKA has the second position, and Dynamo Moscow follows them.
