Kazan 2015 volunteer recruitment campaign comes to an end

1 April 2015, Wednesday

Naberezhnye Chelny is one of the cities of Tatarstan whose residents were the most active during the application process that's why it came as no surprise that volunteer managers decided to visit the city to interview its volunteer candidates in person. More than 70 candidates were interviewed during this special regional selection event. The thing that needs to be mentioned is the candidates' high level of motivation: most boys and girls have made major contributions in terms of doing social work and volunteering (including volunteer experience during the 27th Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan), as well as an acceptable level of language proficiency. A special programme will be organised for 50 volunteers who were selected from cities and municipal districts of Tatarstan for the period between July 18 and August 10: immeadiately upon their arrival in Kazan, volunteers will get their accreditation badges, collect uniforms and undergo a series of trainings as part of the volunteer educational programme following which they will take up their roles at the Championships.

It should be noted that the team of international volunteers has already been formed. It includes 24 representatives from 16 countries who will join their colleagues from Russia and lend a helping hand across an array of volunteer positions at the Championships. Over 600 applications were submitted from 70 countries across the world and competition was really fierce (25 candidates per position). Plus, around 40 candidates were included in the reserve list.

Sheets with results of interviews with each volunteer candidate feature comments concerning key abilities and skills, level of proficiency in foreign languages and volunteer roles that a candidate is most interested in. A single database will serve as a source for volunteer managers to pick the most motivated candidates who meet the requirements and tasks of this or that volunteer position to the fullest extent, keeping in mind a candidate's preferences in a type of activity, sport or sports venue.

As we previously reported, the preparation and delivery of the 16th FINA World Championships 2015 and Masters tournament will require the involvement of 2,500 volunteers who will be contributing their skills, time and efforts across 24 functional areas between July 24 and August 16. 2,000 of these volunteers will be recruited in Kazan and Tatarstan while 500 boys and girls will come to the Kazan 2015 capital from 20 regions of the Russian Federation and 16 foreign countries.
