An annual general meeting of the Badminton Europe Confederation (BEC) finished in Paris, which was attended by the Russian delegation headed by the Chairman of the National Badminton Federation of Russia (NBFR), Vice President of BEC Andrei Antropov. The Russian delegation also included Tatarstan Minister of Sport Vladimir Leonov and president of Tatarstan Badminton Federation Yuri Chaplygin.
As part of the meeting, a contract between NBFR and BEC was signed to hold the European Man’s and Women’s Team Badminton Championship 2016, as well as the European Junior Championship 2016 to be held on February 16-21. The contract was signed by the BEC president Gregory Verporten and chairman of the NBFR Board Andrei Antropov. The Russian delegation also took part in all the events of the BEC annual meeting.
It should be noted, that the European Men's and Women's Team Championship 2016 will be one of the last major tournament, where athletes is able to get points in the fight for the Olympic license in Rio de Janeiro.
"We put an end to the important stage of preparation for the European Championships 2016 - all the details are agreed, the contract is signed, the workflow is officially launched already. President of BEC Gregory Verporten and general secretary Brian Agerbak warmly welcomed the signing. Mr. Verporten said he expected a very good championship, knowing how international badminton tournaments were held in Kazan and in Russia in general," said Andrei Antropov.
After the signing, the General Meeting has been performed by a video presentation of the championship, which was presented by Tatarstan Minister of Sport Vladimir Leonov.
The decision of changing the structure of BEC should be noted among other important news of the Badminton European Confederation.
