Acting Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting on preparing for the 16th world aquatics championship and 16th Masters category world aquatics championship in Kazan.
Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov said a tour of the facilities to be used during the 2015 world aquatics championship had been held the week before, based on which the work to prepare the facilities and repair the revealed flaws had begun.
Sports Projects Executive Directorate General Director Azat Kadyrov made a keynote report, recalling the 2015 event would be held between 24 July and 9 August. A total of 8 venues, including 4 competition ones (Aquatics Palace, water polo arena and Kazan Arena) and 4 training ones will be used. Besides, non-sports facilities, including Universiade Village, International Information Centre and Tatneft Arena, will be engaged.
Rustam Minnikhanov demanded the facilities be checked for fire alarm systems’ functioning, revealed outdoor beautification flaws be eliminated and CCTV systems be ensured to function properly. What mattered most was to make sure the facilities were safe, he stressed, the presidential press service reports.
