FINA masters committee representatives inspect Kazan 2015 venues

The inspection team made up of Chairman of the FINA Masters Committee Edward Evelly, FINA Honorary Secretary Kurt Mikkola, FINA Events and Services Manager Will Bastin, Microplus representatives Daniela Corradino and Elena Nastasi began its work yesterday. The delegates discussed a number of important issues, among them the Masters entries statistics, entry forms, start lists, competition timing and the order of draws. Preparations for the FINA World Masters Championships enter the home stretch and at the moment both the organisers and FINA executives have a clear understanding of how exactly these competitions should be held. 

"Almost everything is ready for the FINA World Masters Championships. Right from the start we had no doubt that the Organising Committee will fulfill the obligations that it has taken upon itself. During our visit we once again toured the venues and made sure that they are fully ready to receive athletes and spectators. We can see in Kazan that the Organising Committee, the city and its people are all excited about the upcoming sporting event. For instance, yesterday we attended the testing of the catering system during which emergency drills were practiced. And you know everything went very smoothly and was very well organised. What are the results of the draw? 35 teams overall were involved in the drawing of lots. We can say that it went really well," said FINA Masters Committee Chairman Edward Evelly. 

As we reported earlier, Kazan will be the first city where the FINA World Championships will be held almost simultenously with the FINA World Masters Championships. The Masters tournament is a competition in aquatic sports across different age categories. It will be held from August 5 to 16. Medals will be contested in 14 age categories from 25 to more than 100 years old. Athletes will compete in 635 medal events.
