Participants of the 16th FINA World Championships held their first official training sessions today, July 19. The Mexican national diving team had its morning practice at the Aquatics Palace. Therefore, Mexico became the first nation to test the sports venue ahead of the 2015 FINA Worlds.
Another national diving team is expected to train at the Aquatics Palace today. The Colombian athletes will have their practice in the afternoon; the diving pool has already been booked for them.
Open water swimmers and synchro swimmers are scheduled to begin their training sessions tomorrow. The latter will have their practices at the Aquatics Palace. The synchronised swimming pool will be available for teams of Australia, China, Brazil, Japan, Spain and Israel. Open water swimming practices for Monday are booked for Russia, Malaysia, France and Venezuela.
Water polo players will begin their official training sessions on July 23. The practice schedule of the Aquatics Palace is drawn up such a way that two teams are able to train in the same pool at the same time.
The water polo teams were paired up as follows: France – China, Russia – Netherlands, Australia – New Zealand, Kazakhstan – Canada, Brazil – Greece (women’s teams); Canada – USA, Russia – Kazakhstan (men’s teams).
Swimmers’ official practices start on July 28, and high divers begin training on July 31.
