Tatarstan shooter Mosin becomes World Champion

The fourth day of the 2015 ISSF Shotgun World Championship brought Tatarstan one gold and two silver medals in double trap.

Vasily Mosin finally grabbed one of the few awards he was missing: the World Championship Gold medal in the Double Trap Men event. Before that, Tatarstan athlete twice stayed in step from the top of the most prestigious world tournament, five times won the European Championship.This time, Vasily Mosin's dream came true in Lonato.

Hitting 140 targets in the qualification, Mosin showed the best result in the semifinal round with 28 hits out of 30, booking a spot in the golden medal match. At the finals, he beat Briton Tim Neale, scoring 29:26, the press attache of Tatasrtan Bullet and Shotgun Federation Olga Kamardina informs.

Vasily Mosin together with Vitaly Fokeev and Artem Nekrasov from Lipetsk region won silver medal in the team tournament. Russian men's team won the competition scoring 406 points, yielding a total of eight points to winners of the competition, shooters from the UK.

Also, Kamille Husaenov climbed into the second position at the junior double trap team competition. Junior men’s team of Russia, including Kirill Fokeev from Lipetsk and Vyacheslav Yukhimenko from Rostov region, finished with the second best score, 387 of 425 hits. The competitions hosts, the Italians, gained the win with a total of 393 points.

According to Sergey Demin, President of Tatasrtan Bullet and Shotgun Federation, as well as personal trainer Vasily Mosin, Mosin already collected a Rio 2016 spot in Al-Ain (UAE) during this year’s World Cup, Kneale pocketed an Olympic quota place for Russia along with the silver medal.

"Vasily proved his readiness for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. With his shooting, he made it clear to opponents that he was the strongest in the world. Thanks to excellent results in Lonato, our athlete will climb into the highest position of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) rating."

"Overall success of Tatarstan athletes at the championships in 2015 should be noted," S.Demin continued. "During four days of competition, shooters won seven awards, including one bronze, five silver and and gold. Now, we also have a good chance of grabbing the eighth award. Kamille Husaenov is fighting for the medal in the junior double trap individual event."
