Kazan chosen as venue for main start of 2015 Cross of Nation

On September 27, Kazan will become a venue for a main start of the national running day, the 2015 Cross of Nation. Traditional races will be held at the site adjacent to the Kazan-Arena stadium.

The most popular 2 km race will be attended by more than 20 thousand Kazan residents, including schoolchildren, students of youth sports schools, students of higher and secondary special educational institutions, employees of state and public organizations.

The Cross of Nation program also includes races for athletes at a distance of 12 km, 8 km, 6 km, 4 km and 2 km, as well as family teams races composed of a mother, a father, a child aged between 6-8 and a child of 10-11 years. In addition, a sports veterans race will also be organized.

On the event day, registration starts at 7.30 am, the first races will start from 8.25, the press service of Kazan executive committee reports.

It should be noted that Kazan is the main platform of the National Run Day, the Cross of Nation. The mass races will take place in 84 Russian cities.

"This year’s audience the event will be about 1.5 million Russian citizens," Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said at a press conference in Moscow. The 2015 Cross of Nation will be dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
