Tatarstan to open 396 centers for GTO standards passing

To date, 52 centers on implementation of GTO physical culture standards ( a nationwide sports complex, Ready for Labor and Defense) are operating in Tatarstan, it is planned to open 396 additional centers. These figures were announced at today's press conference in Tatar-Inform by Head Advisor of mass-sports department of Tatarstan Youth and Sports Ministry Elena Frolova.

"GTO is a modern trend of healthy lifestyle popular nowadays. The most important thing - it's not just an icon, but a whole culture of physical education, and we encourage including the program elements in every social event, such as the Cross of Nation," said Frolova.

According to her, from January 1, 2016, children from 6 to 17 will be able to officially prove their physical fitness in GTO centers established on the basis of educational institutions and sports facilities, getting an icon, Ready for Work and Defense. From January 1, 2017 it will be available for adults.

In order to get access to GTO standards implementation, one should register on the official website of the project, creating a personal account there. All personal physical achievements throughout life will also be taken into account there.
