3 stadiums to be reconstructed in Kazan for 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup

Three football arenas will be reconstructed in Kazan for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup. It was announced today by Deputy Tatarstan Minister of Youth Affairs and Sport Khalil Shaikhutdinov at a press conference held by Tatar-Inform information agency entitled ‘500 Days Before thr FIFA-2017 Confederations Cup’.

Khalil Shaikhutdinov said that 16 matches will take place in four cities in the framework of the Confederations Cup. The tournament will be held from June 17 to July 2, 2017 in four out of 12 stadiums for the 2018 FIFA World Cup: Kazan, Sochi, St. Petersburg, and Moscow (The Otkrytie-Arena stadium). It is already known that the competition will be attended by Russia (the host country and organizer of FIFA 2018), Germany (the winner of FIFA 2014), Chile (2015 American Cup winner), Australia (2015 Asian Cup winner), and Mexico (the winner of the play-offs between the holders of the 2013 and 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cups). A total of eight teams will struggle for the cup.

According to the deputy head of Tatarstan Ministry of Sports, the Russian national team will hold one of the group stage matches on the Kazan-Arena stadium June 24, 2017.
Shaikhutdinov said that three football arenas were to be reconstructed. Namely, they are the Elektron, the Central stadium,  and the Rubin stadium.

As he has reported, residences of all client groups involved in the Confederations Cup have been defined. "It's almost 7,000 places at 32 locations, using the Universiade Village’s fund. Volunteers are undergoing serious training. There is no doubt that Kazan is ready for holding the сup. Things are going well and according to the schedule," the deputy head of Tatarstan Ministry of Sports concluded.
