Summer cycling season officially opened in Kazan

On April 17, the summer cycling season, Veloleto-2016, kicked off in Kazan. The rain broke the organizers plans, but, nevertheless, did not prevent hundreds of cycling fans to take a bike ride from the Park Pobedy to Zernoe Ozero Park.

Already in the early morning long before the event, different people from little children and their parents to aged people started to come at the venue. The bike ride was attended by VIP-persons and their families – Tatarstan Minister of Sports Vladimir Leonov and Tatarstan Minister of Information and Communication Roman Shaikhutdinov.

Having received their numbers all participants started the bike ride to the Chernoe Ozero Park at 10am. Traffic on the streets was blocked, so the cyclists moved freely. A sports festival with a rich entertainment program and competitions were prepared in the park after finnishing.

One of the organizers of the bike ride, Alexander Sidorov, told a correspondent of Tatar-inform, it was the fifth official opening of the summer cycling in Kazan. The first the event was attended by 600 participants, their number increased to 1,000 in the second year and 1,5000 in the third. Last year, the ride gathered 2,000 participants, while 3,000 fans of cycling were expected in the current event, but the weather brought about some changes.
