‘Fighting’ Oscar to be awarded in Kazan first time

On May 29, the UNICS cultural and sports complex will host the most important and anticipated martial arts event. It is a solemn awarding of the first Tatarstan National Award in the field of martial arts, the Golden Belt, which is akin to ‘fighting’ Oscar. It was announced today by Tatarstan Minister of Youth and Sport Vladimir Leonov at a press conference at Tatar-Inform.

President of Tatarstan branch of the Russian Union of Martial Arts Farhat Khusnutdinov said that the award was the highest award in the field of martial arts and given to outstanding athletes, coaches, managers, glorifying Tatarstan with martial arts.

"Since the award is to be held for the first time, it is very important and anticipated event for sporting community," said Khusnutdinov. According to him, the premium is confined to two significant dates - the tenth anniversary of Tatarstan branch of the Russian Union of Martial Arts and the 40th anniversary of Kyokushin martial art in Tatarstan. Thus, about 50 veterans and founders of kyokushin in the republic will be invited at the event as special guests.

A statuette of the winner of Tatarstan's National Prize in the field of martial arts, the Golden Belt,  and a medal for the 40th anniversary of Kyokushin were showed at the press conference. Also, the winners will receive diplomas and money prizes.

The award is organized and founded by Tatarstan branch of the Russian Union of Martial Arts, Tatarstan Ministry of Youth and Sport and Tatarstan Union of Public Figures.
