Ten cyclists from six countries have started today at noon from the Spasskaya Tower of the Kazan Kremlin in the third stage of the longest bicycle race, Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme.
According to the organizers, the race claims for inclusion in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest-stage cycling race on the planet. The distance has been increased by 100 km. Participants will travel more than 9.3 thousand km along the Trans-Siberian Railway, which is 100 years this year.
The competition is participated by ten athletes from six countries: Russia, France, Austria, Germany, Brazil and Thailand. The Kazan - Perm section is the third stage of the record race.
Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme passed through Kazan for the first time, organizer of the race Alexander Shestiperov said an interview. Today at the noon, the participants have started from the Kazan Kremlin.
The ultra marathon highway multi-day bicycle race Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme has kicked off in Moscow July 5. Professional athletes and cycling amateurs will have to overcome hard way at its third stage, Kazan – Perm.
The Kazan - Perm section will be the first round-the-clock stage of the race. Taking into account an average speed of 30 km / h, the participants will finish in Perm tomorrow. According to calculations, a stage winner will spend 22-23 hours cycling.
