On September 1, the All-Russian Knowledge Day, ANO “Russia-2018” Organising Committee and the FIFA hold Football lessons in all the eleven 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ host cities. The students learned the FIFA tournaments history and the peculiarities of the preparation to the world's biggest football tournament. The renowned athletes, football players, and host cities Ambassadors take part in the friendly matches and work shops. The Football lessons aim to promote football and active lifestyle among the Russian youth, as well as to inform a broader public about the up-coming 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, major sporting event of the world on a four-year scale.
A Kazan lesson took place in the track and field hall of the Central Stadium. Overall 70 students of the youth sports school Savinovo were present at the lesson. The Organising Committee and the city volunteers held a vivid and interactive presentation of the event. A distinguished guest Irek Zinnurov, renowned athlete, Olympic silver medallist, and Ambassador of Kazan, was also invited to the lesson.
"Promotion of the healthy lifestyle and sports is one of the major goals for me. I am sure the preparation of the World Cup and the delivery of the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017 will leave their trace in the young minds who want to engage in sports. What's more importants, that after the meetings like this, we always get a lot of applications from the students who want volunteer at the sporting events," said Irek Zinnurov.
The Football Lesson is a project held under the umbrella of the "Russia-2018" Organising Committee, implemented with the help of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Volunteer Centres. The lessons started in December 2015 as a part of the "Generation 2018" Programme which aims to unite the football enthusiasts around the tournament and its values: mutual respect, healthy lifestyle, and fair game.
