Lindswell Lindswell: I've only seen snow once in my life

Indonesian athlete Lindswell Lindswell earned her fifth gold medal at the World Wushu Championships 2017 in Kazan and shared her thoughts of her consecutive victory.

– Surely, it's your first time in Kazan and I think that it’s quite an experience for you.

– Yes, it’s true. I’m here for the first time and I will remember Kazan for a long time. I’ve been to Russia before but to Saint-Petersburg and this city is very different from Kazan. You have different architecture, different nature here. It’s so great here! I like the city very much.

– Have you ever seen snow? According to the forecast, it will be snowing tomorrow.

– Really? I’ve only seen snow once in my life (laughs).

– You’ve competed at many world championships. How’s the tournament management in Kazan?

– Everything is wonderful. I like the venue where we perform, and I like the place we stay at. I'm content with everything.

– Are you happy with your performance in Kazan? Did you hope to win today as well?

– Of course. I go out to compete with only one thought – a good athlete always thinks about finishing first, about winning a gold medal. And it always helps me.

– Were there any mistakes that you can talk about now? Are you satisfied with everything?

– Almost everything. Almost. I nearly made a mistake (laughs).

– How popular is wushu in Indonesia?

– It’s very, very popular.

– Is it true that you are going to retire from sport?

– Yes, this is my last championship.

– And if wushu is included in the 2024 Olympic Games programme, will you consider returning?

– I doubt that. I had many injuries and, I think, it will be hard for me to return. There’s plenty of time until 2024. But of course all athletes dream that wushu will someday be included in the Olympic programme. We will be proud of this event.

– What do you plan to do tomorrow now that you won another gold?

– We will go sightseeing after all competitions. And we will definitely try to sample some local food.
