WWC2017: first medals for Iran and Ukraine on day 4

More sets of medals were contested in the men's and women's taolu events on the fourth competition day of the World Wushu Championships 2017 in Kazan.

Taolu

Men's Taijiquan

Competitor from China Shunhong YANG it claimed his third gold medal in a row in Taolu. Silver medallist of the previous tournament Tomohiro ARAYA of Japan stepped back and settled for bronze. Ivan KRASNOBAEV from Russia finished 6th.

3. Tomohiro ARAYA (JPN) – 9,61

Women's Nandao

Defending world champion Juwita Niza WASNI built up an early lead after her performance, but was soon was edged to the third place by Cheong Min TAN of Malaysia and Jianxin HE of Hong Kong, who took a crown in the event. She performed the last and really managed to astonish the judges by her programme.

1. Jianxin HE (HKG) – 9,64

2. Cheong Min TAN (MAS) – 9,61

3. Juwita Niza WASNI (INA) – 9,58

Women's Jianshu

Competitor from South Korea Heeju SEO took the crown in the straight sword event. For the second tournament in a row she wins a world champion title. Zahra KIANI earned the first medal for team Iran.

1. Heeju SEO (KOR) – 9,65

2. Keiko YAMAGUCHI (JPN) – 9,62

3. Zahra KIANI (IRI) – 9,56

Women's Daoshu

All the spectators were anxious to see Sandra KONSTANTINOVA's performance who competed one of the last. She could attempt to lay claim to medals for Russia's haul, however, she dropped out of the medal hunt due to one mistake. Xuxu LIU, Hong Kong, earned gold, and Ganna TERESHCHENKO of Ukraine took silver. Two years ago she won bronze at the Championships.

1. Xuxu LIU (HKG) – 9,62

2. Ganna TERESHCHENKO (UKR) – 9,60

3. Xuxu LIU (CHN) – 9,46

"I am very pleased to win a medal. I hope that at the next championships I will make a step forward and finally win gold," Ganna Tereshchenko said after her second-place finish.
