WorldSkills Kazan 2019 flag relay presented in Abu Dhabi

13 October 2017, Friday

On 13 October, WorldSkills Kazan 2019 Organising Committee presented the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 flag relay concept at the meeting of the WorldSkills International Strategy Committee which was help in the lead-up to WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017.

According to the concept, the flag will be carried through all the countries which have hosted a WorldSkills Competition previously – that is 21 country and 33 cities. The relay is scheduled to culminate in Kazan on the day of the Opening Ceremony in 2019.

Its trip will start here in the capital of the UAE, at the Closing Ceremony of WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017, where the official WorldSkills Flag Handover to Kazan as the next host city of the Competition will take place.

The relay race goes beyond the Earth itinerary. The flag is scheduled to be sent into space in December 2017.

WorldSkills International Chief Executive Officer David Hoey expressed its appreciation of the concept. "I find this idea very exciting, and we all should join our forces to implement this project," he addressed to the WSI member countries. "Now when it has been presented to the Strategy Committee, together with the Kazan team you need to think of its realization in the next few days. It can become a great momentum to promote the brand of WorldSkills. It is a decent offer and all we need to do is to work on it in collaboration with Kazan."
