Football without discrimination lesson held in Kazan school

Today, on the International Day for Tolerance, 16 November, students of the 10th grade from the Gymnasium №36 participated in the interactive All-Russian lesson which was held in all the FIFA World Cup™ Host Cities on the initiative of the Russia 2018 Local Organising Committee (LOC). The idea to host the lesson in Kazan was supported by the Kazan Department of Education and the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects.

The organiser of the tournament - International Federation of Association Football FIFA - underlines the important role of football as the game that brings together all the countries that are playing it: at the stadiums and back yards, in Australia and Africa, in Vladivostok and Kaliningrad people of all ages, professions, religions, and languages are playing football and share the common values.

The specialists of the Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism Volunteer Centre and the Volunteers Department of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects told the students about the upcoming tournament and that it would reunite for a month all the nations on the Earth at the stadiums and by the TV, told about the fair play and how the principles of tolerance and anti discrimination.

The organisers paid special attention to the fact that anyone can become part of next year's main football event and join the volunteer team. The application form is available on http://volunteers.dspkazan.com, the website of the official agent for the City Volunteers Programme in the Host City of Kazan. After becoming volunteers, boys and girls will be able to not only truly embrace this historical event but also fully connect with football’s unifying force. This is the very one unique occasion when people from all over the world will come to visit our country, and volunteers will be first to meet with fans who will come to Russia to support their national teams.

The lesson ended with a short quiz, during which schoolchildren demonstrated the knowledge acquired and were awarded small souvenirs featuring the logo of the  FIFA World Cup™.
