Today Tatarstan celebrates yet another victory as the Kazan Volunteers movement is recognised as the best regional volunteer centre of Russia. The trophy in this category was presented during the awards ceremony of the Volunteer of Russia All-Russian Competition in Moscow.
One of representatives of the Kazan Volunteers movement, a volunteer team leader, Olga Danilova, received the award from First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergey Kiriyenko. The Kazan Volunteers team was also awarded a grant that they can use for development of projects in the upcoming year. The awards ceremony took place as part of the Volunteer 2017 All-Russian Volunteer Forum which is underway these days in Moscow.
Head of the Volunteers Department at the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects, Ayrat Mubarakshin, said: "We are extremely happy with this victory, and our volunteers, our friends and activists from different corners of Russia and from around the world share this joy with us. Since 2012 Kazan has been gradually becoming the lodestone for enthusiastic people who sincerely love their country and are ready to invest their efforts, time and energy for a shared victory. Many of those who together with us worked at many volunteer projects, today lead high-profile projects not only on a region-wide, but also on nation-wide and even worldwide scales. It is a shared victory of each of 19,970 volunteers who worked at the 2013 Summer Universiade and those volunteers who contributed to the 2015 FINA World Championships; it is certainly a victory of the present-day Kazan Volunteers team, and it is the standard that we should look up to and maintain for our future generations. It is a message for those boys and girls who haven't decided to join volunteering yet so that they understand that being a volunteer is a great thing and something that is really worth aspiring to!"
As was reported earlier, the competition was held in several steps, one of which was preparation of candidates’ portfolios and presentation projects. The competition’s jury selected the finalists that participated in an open online voting throughout 16 categories. Among finalists in the best regional volunteer centre category also were the Volunteer 71 volunteer development public organisation (Tula) and Volunteers Association of the South Urals. The Kazan Volunteers movement had collected 1,958 votes and won the voting.
