Russian synchronised swimming championship 2018 kicks off in Kazan

The Russian Synchronised Swimming Championship was announced open in the Kazan Aquatics Palace. About 300 athletes from 13 regions take part in the tournament.

Three-time Olympic Champion Olga Brusnikina started the tournament. Her victories in the Olympic Games and world championships had provided impetus to the golden era of the Russian synchronised swimming. Today the legendary synchro swimmer is Vice-President of the Russian Synchro Swimming Federation.

“On behalf of the Federation, let me say thanks to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sport of Tatarstan, and Directorate for Sports and Social Projects. This true fest brings us joy and pleasure, and the competitions are organised at such a high level that you set the highest standard. Dear athletes, I want to wish you the lucky water; please yourselves, your family and coaches. Good luck to you and may the best win”, Olga Brusnikina underlined.

Also, Prime-Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Rafis Burganov, Russian State Duma member Olga Pavlova, President of Tatarstan Synchro Swimming Federation Airat Davletshin, and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sport of the Republic Vladimir Leonov were present at the opening ceremony of the Russian Synchronised Swimming Championship.

“Today on such a nice day we announce the championship of a very beautiful sport open in Kazan. We are blessed! Pretty girls will delight us with their performances during the next three days. Today Team Tatarstan represented by Olesya Arkhipova claimed their first bronze. We are writing the history”, Leonov noted.

At the opening ceremony Olga Pavlova, Russian State Duma member and honoured coach of Russia, presented Olga Brusnikina and Airat Davletshin with anniversary medals to commemorate 95 years of the Dynamo physical culture and sports society.

“I’d like to thank the Russian Synchro Swimming Federation and Head Coach of Team Russia, Tatiana Pokrovskaya, for this opportunity to host this national championship in Kazan, pearl of Tatarstan. She is the most hardworking person, and thanks to her efforts synchronised swimming in Russia has been second to none for 20 years already. Our golden girls defend their titles and no one is allowed closer, demonstrating power of our country to the whole world”, Olga Pavlova stressed.

Besides, 12 synchro swimmers from Tatarstan were awarded with certificates and lapel pins of Master of Sports of Russia. They are Mariya Vosmushko, Anna Gordeeva, Adelina Gulieva, Tatiana Plotnikova, Alina Tikhomirova, Alyona Boyko, Regina Izgarova, Zukhra Mavlyavetdinova, Ekaterina Yefremova, Vitaliya Parepa, Regina Ustyuzhanina and Veronika Lukyanova.
