Football lesson held at IT lyceum

With just a month to go until the kick-off of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, on May 14, 11 Russian Host Cities held football lessons. The lesson in Kazan took place at the Kazan Federal University IT Lyceum which is located in the Universiade Village.

Aida Ziyatdinova, Head of FIFA World Cup Volunteers Centre, gave the lesson. She told about the up-coming tournament that will feature 64 matches. As we have informed, 6 of them will take place in Kazan. Kazan Arena will play stage to the France vs Australia match on 16 June, 20 June – IR Iran vs Spain, 24 June – Poland vs Colombia, and on 27 June – Korea Republic vs Germany. Play off games will take place in Kazan on 30 June (Round of 16) and 6 July (Round of 8). Students had a chance to demonstrate their knowledge about the topic of the lesson by participating in a themed quiz. The most active participants received special prizes. After the lesson, the students were awarded with the 2018 FIFA World Cup official match ball – Telstar, and a special poster with health advices from Zabivaka, Official Mascot of the tournament.

Football Lesson is a project held under the umbrella of the "Russia-2018" Organising Committee, implemented with the help of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Volunteer Centres. The lessons started in December 2015 as a part of the "Generation 2018" Programme which aims to unite the football enthusiasts around the tournament and its values: mutual respect, healthy lifestyle, and fair game. The Football lessons aim to promote football and active lifestyle among the Russian youth, as well as to inform a broader public about the up-coming 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, major sporting event of the world on a four-year scale.
