Marat Akhmetov: “The village needs creative and capable personnel”

Tatarstan agriculture minister Marat Akhmetov has met with agrarian university students in Kazan, the ministry’s press service has said.

The ministry chief was accompanied by Kazan State Agrarian University rector Jaudat Faizrakhmanov and Kazan State Veterinary Medicine Academy rector Galimzyan Kabirov.

M.Akhmetov visited the Institute of Mechanisation and Technical Service, where he saw classrooms and met with students. The young people asked the minister questions. M.Akhmetov inquired how they lived and what plans they had for the future.

M.Akhmetov said Tatarstan’s agrarian industry had in 2011 achieved good results. “The weather conditions were favourable, and the state gave support, to relieve the drought’s affects,” the minister said. The republic last year gathered 5 million tonnes of grain.

The subject of Russia joining the WTO was later brought up. The step opens new possibilities to the Tatarstan’s agrarian sector. “Creative and capable personnel are required at this stage,” Tatarstan agrarian chief enhanced.

Issues related to state support and providing housing for new specialists were discussed over the course of the meeting as well.
