Today young swimmers of Kazan got a chance not only to enjoy the competition of the best athletes of the world, but they also tried themselves as real swimming stars. This morning the 50m swimming pool at the Aquatics Palace, where the FINA World Cup is underway, became the site of the battles of future champions currently attending youth athletic training centres.
There were two sessions – male and female. Athletes swam the 100m freestyle race.
“These days are so bright and joyful! The champions compete, share secrets of their expertise with us, communicate, and dispense autographs again in Kazan… It’s something incredible to swim the race in the pool where swimming heroes have just set World Cup records”, participants shared their emotions.
The winners were awarded by the Olympic and World champions Sarah Sjostrom (Sweden), Chad Le Clos (RSA), and FINA technical delegate Jens-Christian Iverson inscribed in the history of swimming.
As for the leaders among boys, Robert Abdullin won the race, Timur Maltsev ranked second, Kirill Trofimov came third.
As for the leaders among girls, Adelina Valiullina achieved victory, Nazilia Ziganzirova came second, Anita Tikhonova won the third prize.
