Rustam Minnikhanov talks to young patients at Children’s Clinical Hospital’s blood cancer unit

President of Tatarstan has today met with children receiving treatment in the Tatarstan Children’s Clinical Hospital’s blood cancer unit.

The meeting was part of marking 1 June, the International Children’s Day. A guided tour of the Kazan Kremlin, including the Kul Sharif Mosque and Annunciation Cathedral, was arranged for the children.

R. Minnikhanov joined the excursion near the Governor’s Palace. He talked to the children on various subjects and asked them what they knew about Kazan. He welcomed them to have a look at the Governor’s Palace, part of the official presidential residence.

Rustam Minnikhanov told the young visitors about his average working day routine and what kind of people he received in the palace.

“Since today you are the most important people here, you can go and look anywhere,” R. Minnikhanov said.

Photos were taken in one of the palace’s halls.

Tatarstan president gave to his guests electronic books and photo albums about the Kazan Kremlin as gifts.

Besides, R. Minnikhanov instructed aide to President of Tatarstan on welfare affairs Tatiana Larionova to give presents to all children, about 40, receiving treatment at the clinic’s blood cancer unit.

Rustam Minnikhanov wished his guests soonest recovery and they gave him a present, a panel picture made from beads by a young Diana Kalimullina, who, despite losing one hand to cancer, is a handicraft enthusiast.

The young guests proceeded to a festive tea party, while President of Tatarstan went to a video conference with Moscow, where the Tatarstan’s junior team takes part in the third World Junior Winners Games (31 May to 2 June). It is a unique sporting event for children recovered from cancer. The Winners Games are the world’s largest competition between children with a history of cancer, the President of Tatarstan’s press service reports.
