Russian Weightlifting Championships: Svetlana Shimkova takes women's 68kg title

The Russian Senior Weightlifting Championships are held at the Ak Bure Multipurpose Sports Complex in Kazan on May 27-June 3.

Svetlana Shimkova, who represents Moscow and Tatarstan at the current championship, secured gold medal in the women's 69kg weight class. She totalled 251kg. Viktoria Savenko, who competes for the Irkutsk Oblast and Moscow, ended up second best with a total of 225kg. Veronika Prokopova of the Kurgan Oblast lifted 196kg and took bronze.

4. Elena Bobrineva (Kursk Oblast) - 194 (84+110).
5. Leyla Khugaeva (Dagestan) - 190 (87+103).
6. Kristina Kornilova (Vladimir Oblast) - 178 (77+101).
7. Ksenia Chaukova (Bashkortostan) - 173 (78+95).
8. Daria Naloga (Krasnodar Krai) - 148 (65+83).
