4 July 2013, Thursday

A travelling all-Russian art exhibition, titled 'Many-Sided Russia', had been opened at the Khazine Gallery, the branch of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan.

This ambitious project, launched in 2012, to cover many cities of Russia and last for four years. It is dedicated to the great date in the history of our country, the 1150th anniversary of Russian statehood. In 862 there was an act of voluntary agreement of Slavic and Finno-Ugric tribes having agreed to call for the cessation of civil strife as the ruler of 'outsider' is not associated with any of the local clans. So the governor became Prince Rurik, which initiated the first Russian dynasty. Traditionally, 862 is the date of origin of the Russian statehood, the starting point of Russian history.

The Russian Academy of Arts seeks to unite artists, show museum-goers their best works, filled with love for the Fatherland, and revive travelling art exhibitions that were so popular in the last third of the 19th century.

More than two hundred works of artists from different regions of Russia were presented at the exhibition. Paintings of such famous painters as A. Plastov, E. Zverkov, V. Ivanov, T. Salakhov, I. Obrosov, B. Nemensky, D. Zhilinskiy, A. Michri, V. Ivanova, V. Sidorova, as well as works of the artists of the middle generation V. Rzewski, E. Romashko, V. Miloslavskaya, A. Fedorov, M. Pereyaslavets and many others, made the precious basis of the exhibition.

Selection of works for the exhibition tells that every great master has the theme of the history of Russian or revered images associated with it. So I. Rubinsky opened the theme of the Great Patriotic War, in a painting, The Guerrillas are Coming (1970).

Picture of the famous artist of the Republic of Tatarstan by I. Samokaev Building Squad Troops of Ivan the Terrible (2012) is devoted to the base of the fortress, founded by Ivan the Terrible in 1551. At present, it is the pearl of Tatarstan - the island town of Sviyazhsk with the majestic cathedrals of Orthodox churches.
