Kazan celebrates Universiade 2013 medalists

"We were preparing for the Universiade, that concluded last week, for a long time, - pointed out Rafis Burganov, - If we are to recall five years of preparations, there were both good and bad moments. But all we aimed for was done at an extremely worthy level".

"Your example will catch on amongst our youth, children and parents. There is no other city with the sports infrastructure equal to the Kazan's quality," - said the Minister to the athletes.

"Universiade gave us the same unity of athletes and the audience we saw in Soviet time, when a fan went to support the sportsman, who in turn wanted to repay the fans with victory," - Burganov commented on the Games.

The Minister referred to the Universiade as to a record-setting one in terms of participants, medal sets and the scale of organization.

Then, the athletes were presented with honorary diplomas.

After Rafis Burganov concluded the meeting by wishing the sportsmen further success, the latter left for the meeting with Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan.
