From Kazan to Sochi

26 July 2013, Friday

From Kazan to Sochi - from one global multi-sport event to another. Employees of the 27th Summer Universiade will be given the opportunity to put their experience to good use at the upcoming Winter Olympics. The career fair is held these days in Kazan and will last 3 days.

"The fact that a Sochi 2014 career fair is held these days in Kazan means that our long-term cooperation has moved from theory to practice long time ago. Today, we see a great result - the fair is very popular, and we are very pleased that the Team 2013, which held the best Universiade in the history of FISU and which gives us pride, will be able to fulfill themselves as part of another project which has immense value for the people of our country. I hope that everyone will be able to find a congenial employment," said Chief of Staff and Deputy Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Larisa Sulima.

The Olympic and Paralympic Games will involve about 100,000 people of staff (including volunteers and employees of contracting agencies). Employees of Kazan will be employed as temporary staff. The work of the first group will begin on September 1, 2013 and will last six months, some of the categories will take up their duties later. All temporary employees will be provided with uniform and will undergo required training. The Sochi 2014 Organising Committee also commits to accommodate all nonresident employees.

"Today we begin interviewing candidates for a variety of positions. We regard both regular and temporary staff of the Universiade. As far as maintenance activities are concerned, the persons employed in these positions take on their jobs in November and December. In general, we plan to employ people in September," said the head of the group of recruiters for the Sochi 2014 project, Faina Sandzhieva.

Language services, catering, accreditation, transport, event services, sports-production - this is only a small part of the list of jobs offered at the fair (there are about 350 of them). The first day of the job fair held by the Organising Committee of the Sochi 2014 Summer Universiade saw the attendance of over 600 people.

According to the organiser of the event - Head of the Personnel Training at the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate, Yulia Vlad, "The response and the number of people applying for jobs in their areas (language services, catering, event catering, sports-production) have surpassed all expectations. Right now, having gained a huge experience and a huge positive charge at the 2013 Summer Universiade, employees are willing to make every effort to become part of such a big event like the Olympic Games in Sochi."

The candidates themselves expect only the most memorable experiences from the upcoming event and believe that the work at the Olympic Games will be an important step in the development of their careers and become a springboard for further achievements.
