Soon after the end of the Universiade, respondents were asked to name two reasons why the Russian team won the record-breaking number of gold medals at the World University Summer Games in Kazan. 40% of respondents said that the athletes have reached such results thanks to a special training programme and a serious approach to training. Nearly one-third of the respondents (14%) explained the victories by the inclusion of Olympic champions in the team. "There are a lot of those who believe that the key to success lied in the attention given to the sports sector in the country as a whole (29%), as well as the support of the fans (27%) and the desire to win (24%)," says the release.
It should be noted that the overwhelming majority - 69% of respondents - see the Universiade as a source for national pride. And 71% of Russian citizens kept track of the competitions. The survey was carried out among 1,600 people in 130 settlements across the country. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
