11 December 2013, Wednesday
President of the Russian Student Sports Union Oleg Matytsin started the report by saying thank-you to FISU for placing the trust in Russia and giving the right to host the Summer Universiade to Kazan. In addition to these words, Rafis Burganov noted that due to the attribution of the 2013 Summer Universiade to Kazan, the whole country rallied around the idea of organising the largest multi-sport event: "With full support from the President, Government, Ministry of Sports of Russia, other federal agencies, it took the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan 5 years to carry out a tremendous amount of preparatory work, thanks to which Kazan obtained a great legacy for the development of university sports, planning and management of sporting events. Today Kazan is among the top of Sportcal's annual Cities Index and was named the Highly Recommended Sport City at the 2013 International Sports Event Management (ISEM) Awards. As early as next year Kazan will host an array of large-scale international events, and in 2015 it will welcome the 2015 FINA World Championships, followed by the the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2017, and the FIFA World Cup in 2018."
