The stadium is going to host swimming and synchronised swimming events. Both temporary pools will be installed on the main venue with the help of Myrtha Pools, the Official FINA Partner, and in compliance with the FINA requirements. The seating capacity will reach approximately 11,000.
Preparation of temporary facilities for this summer's major aquatics event can be nominally divided into two stages: installation of a temporary canopy and assembly of temporary infrastructure.
The temporary canopy will consist of a metal frame resting on a one-sided footing and covering a total area of 6,600 sq. m. As of today, the foundation for the footing has already been made and works have been completed to lay road plates for cranes to move over the surface of the football field. Enlarged metal components of the temporary canopy are currently being produced and delivered to the venue. The target date for the conclusion of work is May 1.
As far as the installation of temporary facilities is concerned, infrastructure made up of more than 20 types of overlays will need to be constructed on the football pitch and in surrounding areas.
The venue must be fully ready for the 2015 FINA World Championships by July 10. Soon after the Championships wrap up, the temporary facilities will be dismantled and works will be initiated to make the stadium ready to host regular matches of the national football championships. The Kazan Arena Stadium currently serves as the home field for Rubin KAZAN Football Club.
