Works to begin on installation of main and training pools at Kazan Arena Stadium

15 May 2015, Friday
Work is due to begin on Monday, May 18, on installing temporary swimming pools at the Kazan Arena Stadium. The first batch of equipment has been delivered to the stadium the day before. A total of 20 deliveries are planned to be made. Foundation grounds for the pools have already been prepared; road plates and sand have been laid on them in accordance with appropriate standards.

The Official FINA Partner - Myrtha Pools - will move on site early next week to begin installation works. All pools will need to be set up until July 10. After that final preparatory works and comprehensive drills will be held here and on July 20 athletes will start their training sessions at the pools. These are the dates that have been approved by representatives of the FINA Technical Committee and subcontracting companies.

"It's a very important moment for us because the pools are a main field of play for the World Championships," Secretary General of the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects, Ranko Tepavcevic, said.

Installation works will take several weeks. But it is important to realise that Myrtha Pools representatives are about to install three pools all at the same time. As was reported earlier that the pools at the Kazan Arena Stadium will have a size of 50mx26m, allowing hosting preliminary heats at ten lanes. The main pool's depth will be 3m, which is in strict compliance with the requirements for staging international synchronised swimming tournaments.

The Water Polo Arena will be located in the area adjacent to the Aquatics Palace. Its pool will have a size of 35mx22m.
