Among the delegates are Head of the FINA Communications Department Pedro Adrega, Chairman of the FINA Media Committee Camillo Cametti, Advisor to the FINA Media Committee and Member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Press Commission Alan Abrahamson, and Official FINA Photographer Giorgio Scala. On the first day of their visit to the capital of Tatarstan, the FINA representatives took a tour of the Kazan Arena Stadium and Aquatics Palace. They were particularly interested in press facilities that will be offered to accredited media during this summer's mega aquatics event, i.e. press centres, photo workrooms, press conference rooms, mixed zones and press tribunes.
"The infrastructure delivered at venues in Kazan is impressive. I think that the Water Polo Arena, which is currently under construction, will be equipped to the same high standard as the venues we've already visited. What we can see today is an amazing legacy of international sporting events hosted earlier in Kazan. As for our visit, the inspection goes at a good pace. We are first of all interested in seeing press facilities, and here everything is arranged to the highest standard," Chairman of the FINA Media Committee Camillo Cametti said.
Tomorrow the delegates will continue their work at the Main International Centre. They will have a series of meetings with the OC representatives and discuss matters related to media accreditation, media transportation and accommodation of non-local and international journalists.
