Kazan mayor checks progress of KAZAN 2015 ticket sales

8 July 2015, Wednesday

Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited today an official Kazan 2015 ticket outlet at the Yashlek metro station where he checked the pace of ticket sales for the 16th FINA World Championships. Together with other members of the inspection team, he took a metro from the Kremlevskaya station. During the inspection tour, he was accompanied by Director General of the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects Azat Kadyrov, Chief of Staff at the Kazan Executive Committee Igor Sivov, Head of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky Municipal Districts Damir Fattakhov and Director of MUE Metroelektrotrans Asfan Galyavov.

Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin became one of the first buyers at the Yashlek metro station’s ticket office. The head of the city bought tickets to the water polo tournament final which will take place at an outdoor venue between the Kazan Arena Stadium and the Aquatics Palace on August 7-8 and asked a ticket agent how the sales are going on.

“All events, of course, are interesting. There’s a high demand for tickets to sporting events. It’s good to see that the ticket prices are quite affordable: the lowest price is 50 roubles, which is the same as during the Universiade. It’s a great piece of luck to see the Championships for such a cost. People fly across the ocean for a chance to see the Aquatics Championships. And we, who live in Kazan, are simply obliged to take this chance and attend the tournament. As soon as the University Games kicked off, crowds of visitors rushed to box offices to purchase tickets and we didn’t expect that. There is no doubt that as soon as the Aquatics Championships begin, the flow of tourists and citizens coming to see the competitions will also increase. And we must be ready for such a massive influx of visitors. There can be queues but pandemonium is unacceptable,” Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin said.

The official Kazan 2015 outlets were opened in the city’s most popular locations, i.e. major shopping malls, metro stations (Kozya Sloboda, Ploschad Tukaya, Yashlek and Prospekt Pobedy), and at Championships venues. At these ticket offices local citizens and visitors can buy both paper tickets and e-tickets. According to Azat Kadyrov, tickets to the upcoming sporting event are in high demand.

“People are interested in the Championships, and we hope that the excitement will only grow with each passing day. The sales are increasing; more than 130,000 tickets have already been sold, and by tracing ticket buyers’ IP addresses we can say that 16,000 of these tickets were purchased abroad. 30% of all tickets have already been sold,” Director General of the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects Azat Kadyrov said.
