More athletes arrive for FINA world championships

The Kazan International Airport continues welcoming athletes coming to Kazan for the 16th FINA World Championships. 95% of participants will arrive in the host city by air. The peak arrival dates are July 21-23 and July 28-30.

Dozens of athletes from all parts of the world arrive every day in the host city of the upcoming aquatics tournament. The organisers and volunteers greet them at the airport and escort them to the buses that take them to their places of accommodation. More than 5,000 athletes, officials and journalists are expected to arrive in Kazan for the sporting event. 

"Transport service was among the first ones to begin its work. Our official points of arrival in Kazan and transit points in Moscow were launched on July 17. Speciallly trained personnel is assigned to work at airports of Moscow and in Kazan. This personnel  greets our guests arriving in accordance with a schedule drawn automatically from the FINA GMS. Our people meet the arrivals near passport control, help them collect their luggage and assist them with customs formalities. Upon landing at the airport in Kazan, the guests are invited to a special desk where they are registered and escorted to passenger cars or buses that transport them to their hotels," said Head of the Transportation and Customs Procedures Department, Andrey Lopatin. 

From July 15 to August 15, 2015, all Championships participants will be entitled for a visa-free entry to the Russian Federation. The Chinese national synchronised swimming team landed today in Kazan. Despite a tiresome flight, the athletes readily talked to reporters. The head coach of the Chinese team, Mayuko Fujiki, shed some light on her squad's plans for the upcoming Championships. 

"Next year is an Olympic year, and our major goal is to earn a qualifying spot for the Games. Our team consists of mostly young people, however two of our athletes competed at the London Olympics. As for the Russian team, we can say that it is very strong. We would like to come near to their level someday," China's head coach said. 

The synchro swimming events are scheduled to be held at the Kazan Arena Stadium from July 25 to August 1.
