Public transport hotline to operate during FINA world championships in Kazan

21 July 2015, Tuesday

A multichannel hotline will be in operation 24/7 to deal with enquiries about public transport services during the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan. This was announced today by Chairman of the Transport Committee of the Kazan Executive Committee, Aydar Abdulkhakov, during the press conference at the Tatar-inform Information Agency.

“By dialing 275-30-50, you can contact a hotline agent who will explain how you can get from one place to another, what public transport routes pass through sports venues and what is the interval of their circulation,” he said. Aydar Abdulkhakov also added that hotline agents will also receive complaints regarding the operation of buses, tramways and trolleybuses. The line will also be intended for reporting emergency situations.

According to the Chairman of the Transport Committee, public transport will operate under a special timetable. On days when competitions end late – after 23:00 – the timetable for the metro and public transport, which circulate near sports venues, will be extended until 24:00 with due regard to the number of available pieces of public transportation.

“Kazan's current route network fully covers all the sports facilities that are going to be used at the Championships. It is possible to get to the sports venues from all corners of the city either directly or with one only transfer,” Aydar Abdulkhakov said. According to him, having a ticket on a certain day of competitions spectators will be allowed to use public transport on that specific day as many times as they want.

As we’ve reported earlier, the traffic plan of Bus No54, which starts at the River Port and finishes in Gavrilova Street, has been extended till the Aquatics Palace. 19 units of public transport have also been added; they will circulate every 6-7 minutes. Using this very route, locals and visitors of Novo-Savinovskiy and Vakhitovskiy districts will be able to get to the Kazan Arena Stadium and Aquatics Palace.

Fifteen bus, two tram and two trolley routes with a total stock of 304 units currently circulate between the Kazan Arena Stadium and all the city districts. Four bus routes with a total stock of 55 units serve the Aquatics Palace.

The Kazanka River embankment area near the Palace of Farmers, where open water swimming competitions will be held, is served by five bus routes with a total stock of 69 units.

Provided by the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects, two shuttle buses are arranged to run between the Aquatics Palace and the Kozya Sloboda metro station from 22:00 till 24:00.
