President of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), Dr. Julio C. Maglione, highly commended Kazan’s efforts in preparing and delivering the 2015 FINA World Championships. The FINA President believes that this year’s edition of the Championships will be the best in the history of this sporting event.
According to Dr. Julio C. Maglione, the full support comes from all involved parties: President of Russia, Minister of Sport of Russia, Interim President of Tatarstan, Director General of the Executive Directorate, and of course, volunteers. “Their substantial support allowed to create best conditions here. We think this is going to be the best Championships. For the first time in the history, the Masters tournament will be held almost simultaneously with the FINA World Championships, allowing masters athletes to come together and take part in an international sporting event.” The FINA President called the upcoming Opening Ceremony extraordinary. According to Mr. Maglione, almost all visitors will have the opportunity to watch this show because the organisers will arrange 8 re-runs of it.
The 16th FINA World Championships will be hosted by Kazan from July 24-August 9. 2,793 athletes will compete for medals in six aquatic disciplines: swimming, open water swimming, synchronised swimming, diving, water polo, high diving and swimming.
