From September 9 to 18, 2015 ISSF Shotgun World Championship is being held in Lonato, Italia. Tatarstan shooters won seven awards: two gold, four silver and one bronze medal. The gold medal of the Championship belongs to Vasily Mosin, among junior - to Ekaterina Subbotina.
A press conference dedicated to success of Tatarstan athletes was attended by First deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Tatarstan Khalil Shaikhutdinov, Director of Center for Sports Training Mikhail Smolkin, President of Bullet and Shotgun Federation of Tatarstan Sergey Demin, honored Master of Sports, shotgun coach Svetlana Demina, World Champion in shooting Vasily Mosin, bronze medalist of the World Championships in shotgun Ekaterina Rabaya.
According to Khalil Shaikhutdinov,it is the first time, the junior competitions are held in conjunction with the ISSF Shotgun World Championship. "We understand the importance of these championships as the pre-Olympic competitions. I should also note that eight athletes from Tatarstan for the first time participated in the championships, while the Russian team consisted of 30 people. Today, there is a lot of young athletes, such as Kamil Husaenov, who takes part in such an important competitions for the first time and won a silver award. In Tatarstan, a complex for trap shooting equipped with best European conditions is successfully running. Have the facilities for athletes training, we also provide a special training program. But, it is not time to rest, because, For example, Ekaterina Rabaya is taking part in four competitions soon, after which she may get to the 2016 Olympics," Khalil Shaikhutdinov said.
"The victory is a unique event, but largely predictable, because we are contributing to it for years. Everybody knows about Kazan and the republic, we are envious of all 83 regions of Russia, as well as athletes from abroad. They are jealous of training possibilities we have, support that we are provided by the state, thus, we are responsible the results. Being in Kazan, I always feet team work, I personally know everyone who helps me in this sport, and there is a piece of every their soul in my victories and in the success of our team," Vasily Mosin shared his thoughts.
Hitting 140 targets in the qualification, Mosin showed the best result in the semifinal round with 28 hits out of 30, booking a spot in the golden medal match. At the finals, he beat Briton Tim Neale, scoring 29:26.
Vasily Mosin together with Vitaly Fokeev and Artem Nekrasov from Lipetsk region won silver medal in the team tournament. Russian men's team won the competition scoring 406 points, yielding a total of eight points to winners of the competition, shooters from the UK.
