Over 150 athletes to arrive to Kazan for Russian Tennis Championship

Kazan Tennis Academy will take the Tennis Championship of Russia for the fifth time in its history. The sporting event will be attended by more than 150 tennis players from 58 cities Russia. For the first time, Kazan will host a festival of tennis in framework of the tournament. It was announced today during a press conference in Tatar-Inform news agency.

"From September 27 to October 4, traditionally, the Tennis Championship of Russia will take place at the facilities of Kazan Tennis Academy for the fifth time in a row," Vice President, Executive Director of a regional public organization, Tennis Federation of Tatarstan, Ravil Nogumanov said.

According to him, the honor guest of the event will be President of the Tennis Federation of Russia Shamil Tarpishchev, and wild-known in Russia and beyond its borders titled tennis player Anastasia Myskina, Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Igor Kunitsyn, who will hold a match of legends with local celebrities.

The list of participants of the 108th Russian Championship will be joined by the strongest athletes of international level Aleksey Vatutin, Eugeny Yelistratov and Victor Baluda. Among women, the main contender to win is a Margarita Gasparyan, who will compete against Vitalya Dyachenko and Evgeniya Rodina.

"Tatarstan will be presented by all republic professional athletes existed to date - there are about 20 people," a board member of the Russian Tennis Federation, chairman of the coaching board Gennady Zhukov said.

The list of Tatarstan athletes will be topped by Ksenia Lykina and Ekaterina Yashina. The competition will be attended by Gulnara Nazarova, Sabina Shaydullina, Aida and Rhalina Kalimullins, and students of Volga Region Academy of Sport and Tourism and Anastasia Chikalkina and Polina Novoselov. Among men, the tournament will be attended by Timur Kiyamov, Aleksandr Boborykin and Pavel Selivanovsky.

The organizers promised, this year’s total prize pool will amount to 2.6 million rubles.

At the same time, according to the chairman of the coaching board of Russian Tennis Federation, competitors appreciate another kind of award much more that cash prize. Traditionally, the championship participants are claiming sports in Kremlin Cup qualification, which is a prestigious professional tennis tournament in the capital of Russia.
