Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov on Monday made a working visit to Naberezhnye Chelny, to attend the opening ceremony of a new sports and health facility that includes a swimming pool, owned by the local university of education. Other attendees at the ceremony were Tatarstan Education and Science Minister Engel Fattakhov, Tatarstan Youth Affairs and Sport Minister Vladimir Leonov, and others.
The health facility had been built within the 500 Russian Swimming Pools health improvement plan. It measures over 3,000 square metres. The three-storey sports complex has two swimming pools, three gyms, a conference room, a wrestling room, a cardio workout room, a group exercise room, a room for children, and a sauna.
The facility costs 186.4 million roubles, of which 80 million is federal funds, 50 million comes from the region’s budget, while another 31 million is funds provided by the university. In 2015, an extra 10 million was earmarked from the Russian budget to complete the construction. Besides, 15.4 million was allocated by Tatarstan to purchase the requisite equipment.
“Within the 500 Russian Swimming Pools we open a new sports facility that offers new opportunities for development for students. We provide conditions for you to be able to do sports, all these issues have been solved. From the bottom of my heart I congratulate you on this health facility,” Rustam Minnikhanpov said. He then presented to university’s rector Fairuza Mustafina a 100-thousand-rouble-certificate.
