Almost 20,000 people take part in Lyzhnya Rossii ski race in Kazan

As many as 20,250 people participated in a national mass ski race, Lyzhnya Rossii 2016, in Kazan. It was announced today at a Monday business meeting in Kazan City Hall by Chairman of the Sports Committee under the Executive Committee of Kazan Svetlana Vostrikov.

Svetlana Vostrikova said that the Lyzhnya Rossii took place on three sites of Kazan. 14,5 thousand residents and guests of Kazan gathered on the central starting site, while 750 and 5,000 people on the other two.

"Growing number of participants and the race geography is rewarding. This great gathering of skiers is a main victory. Kazan proves to be a sports capital of Russia not only due to the number of sporting achievements, but healthy lifestyle. Ones again, Kazan managed to demonstrate it at the race," Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin said.

Yesterday, 34th open national mass ski race Lyzhnya Rossii 2016 took place in 72 cities of Russia. Kazan entered the official list of venues of the popular winter race, with the preliminary number of 15,000 applications. As part of the national race, the Lyzhnya Tatarstana 2016 ski race took place in republic, as well.
