EMWТС 2016: English, German and Russian men’s teams make it through without loss

17 February 2016, Wednesday

The men's teams of England, Germany and Russia secured victories on the second competition day of the European Badminton Men’s and Women’s Championships in Kazan thus enduring two rounds of group stages without a single loss.

Team England, which had cruised to an easy win over Estonia the day before, just as easily gained the upper hand over Bulgaria during the Wednesday group match. The German badminton players, who didn’t ease up in their efforts after yesterday’s successful opening game against Lithuania, met no real resistance from Ireland today. After a victory over Slovenia, the Russian national team made its fans sit on the edge of their seats in the game against Austria, but only in the beginning, when Vladimir Malkov lost in the men’s singles. However, shortly after that the tournament hosts got their feet back on the ground and won the remaining four matches.
