On 18 February, a cooperation agreement was signed at the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum between the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects and the Executive Directorate of the 29th Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk.
The parties agreed on joint development and implementation of projects aimed at involving young people in the preparation for the 2019 Winter Universiade. The document was signed by Deputy Director General of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects, Alexander Karpov, and Director of the Executive Directorate of the Winter Universiade 2019, Maxim Urazov.
The signed agreement will allow Krasnoyarsk to access the volunteer training and management experience gained by their Tatarstan colleagues in the build-up to the Summer Universiade 2013, FINA World Championships 2015 and many other competitions and events staged in Kazan. It is expected that the volunteers at the Winter Universiade 2019 will be selected from among those candidates who already have experience of volunteering at international competitions.
The volunteer programme of the 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan was one of the most impressive projects implemented in the run-up to the 2013 Games. "We are ready to share many years of experience on the system of involving volunteers, their training and motivation, with our colleagues from Krasnoyarsk so they do not need to go down the entire route again," said Alexander Karpov.
"We have been cooperating with representatives from Kazan for a long time. Today, we are covering another crucial aspect – recruitment of volunteers, and their training. Our volunteers are already participating in activities throughout the region and the country. However, the core selection of volunteers will begin in 2017, so that they can participate in test events and prepare for the staging of the Winter Universiade 2019," said Maxim Urazov.
Staging test events and competitions of the Winter Universiade 2019 will require 5,000 volunteers. 4,000 volunteers will be from the Krasnoyarsk Krai, and it is planned that about 1,000 will come from other regions of the country. International volunteers will be welcome to participate in the Winter Universiade 2019 as well.
