EMWTC 2016: Denmark claims sixth consecutive European men's team title

21 February 2016, Sunday

The winner of the men's team tournament was determined today, February 21, at the European Badminton Men’s and Women’s Team Championships in Kazan.

Although it was for the first time in the history of the European Championships that the French managed to reach the final, they were able to win only the first game through the efforts of Brice Leverdez who managed to beat Jan O Jorgensen. The Danish pair of Mads Conrad-Petersen and Mads Pieler Kolding dropped the second game to Bastian Kersaudy/Gaëtan Mittelheisser but then easily won back the next two games. But this loss upset the French team so much that they gave up the next two matches almost without any resistance.

As a result, the Danes defended their European crown for the sixth consecutive time since the foundation of the tournament in 2006. Germany and England settled for bronze medals.
