The Danish women’s team claimed the continental title at the European Badminton Men’s and Women’s Team Championships in Kazan after earning a victory over Bulgaria in the final match.
The meet ended in 3-1 in favour of Denmark which managed to win the crown for the fourth time in the history.
The first victory in the final came quite easy for Denmark – Line Kjaersfldt gained an upper hand over Linda Zetcheri, 21-15, 21-9. In the second game, Petya Nedelcheva dictated a run of play to Anna Thea Madsen but still failed to win. Bulgaria brought back intrigue in the third game in which Stefani Stoeva posted a win over Mette Poulsen. However, in the first doubles game the Danes showed a top-class performance and claimed a confident win over the Bulgarians whose progress to the final was one of the biggest surprises of the tournament.
Earlier at the championships, the men’s team gold was snatched by the Danish team who beat France in the final.
