Open republic of Tatarstan regional skills (Worldskills Russia) competition to be held in Kazan on April 7-9

The Open Republic of Tatarstan Regional Skills (WorldSkills Russia) Competition will take place in Kazan from April 7 to 9, 2016 in Kazan. Competitors will contest across 56 skill areas.

The JuniorSkills Competition will be held on the sidelines of the main event and will see schoolchildren, aged 10-17 years, compete in 14 skill areas.

The competition will feature 1,100 competitors and experts, including 180 competitors and experts from 17 regions of the Russian Federation (Samara Oblast, Chuvash Republic, Ulyanovsk Oblast, Kemerovo Oblast, Krasnodar Krai, Udmurt Republic, Republic of Mari El, Penza, Volgograd, Moscow, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Moscow Oblast, Saint-Petersburg, Leningrad Oblast, Yaroslavl Oblast, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Republic of Bashkortostan). Among competitors there will also be representatives of the Volga Federal District.

The regional competition will take place on the premises of the Kazanskaya Yarmarka Exhibition Centre and in terms of its size will be equal to the national competition (similar to the national competition finals held in Kazan in 2014-2015). The total competition venue area will reach over 14,000 sq.m. (6 pavilions).

The event’s opening ceremony will be held on April 7, 2016 at 9:00 at the Kazanskaya Yarmarka Exhibition Centre, with the awards ceremony being scheduled for April 9, 2016 at 16:30 at the Piramida Cultural and Entertainment Centre.  

Over 60,000 spectators are expected to attend the regional competition, among them senior high school students and students of vocational colleges and higher education establishments from all municipal regions of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Based on the results of the regional competition, the Tatarstan team will be put together to take part in the semifinal and final of the Russian National Skills (WorldSkills Russia) Competition.

The Volga Federal District Competition semifinal will be held on April 13-16, 2016 in Saransk (Republic of Mordovia). The Tatarstan team will compete in all the 26 skills areas.

The Russian National Skills (WorldSkills Russia) Competition final is scheduled to be held on May 23-27, 2016 in the Moscow Oblast across 76 skills areas.

The organisers of the Open Republic of Tatarstan Regional Skills (WorldSkills Russia) Competition are the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, Agency for the Development of Professional Communities and Skilled Workers (WorldSkills Russia), Kazan Mayor’s Office, Oleg Deripaska's Volnoe Delo Foundation and Directorate for Sports and Social Projects.
