Open Tatarstan regional skills competition wraps up in Kazan

10 April 2016, Sunday

Results of the Open Republic of Tatarstan Regional Skills (WorldSkills Russia) Competition were summed up during the closing ceremony at the Piramida Cultural and Entertainment Complex on April 9.

“I remember how entire Russia rejoiced when Kazan earned the right to host the WorldSkills Competition 2019,” Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ildar Khalikov, said in his welcome speech.

He also noted that today the Piramida Cultural and Entertainment Complex brought together all those who understand that today is the day when they create their own future. “You have special skills, ability to achieve success, ability to show the strength of their character, ability to find out-of-the-box solutions in order to be best,” said Ildar Khalikov. Each participant of the Regional Skills Competition has already become best in the municipal district or region of Russia they are from. Some of them will continue to compete in the semifinal and final of the National Skills Competition.

“I’m confident that today at this venue we see those who will receive gold medals at the WorldSkills Competition in 2019. We will feel proud for them and remember today’s April evening,” the Tatarstan Prime Minister said.

“I would like to wish you to experience the passion of victory and to reach the heights that were not achievable for other contestants before you,” said Director General of the WorldSkills Russia Union, Robert Urazov. “I strongly hope that some of you will place first at the European Skills Competition this year.”

“I want to say my special thanks to experts. Thank you for you fair judgement,” he added. It should be noted that contestants’ works were assessed by experts from Tatarstan and other regions of Russia whereas independent assessment was provided by national experts.

“You’ve created a big event,” Robert Urazov said to the organisers. “60,000 spectators is a huge number! It’s a high achievement for Tatarstan. It feels like it’s not a regional skills competition and not even a national skills competition. It’s close to the WorldSkills Competition in terms of event management.”

“I want to wish good luck to the Tatarstan team at the competition in Saransk. I wish you to reach the final and show everyone that you are the best!” said the WorldSkills Russia Union Director General.

Winners and runners-up of the Open Tatarstan Regional Skills Competition and JuniorSkills Competition were awarded during the closing ceremony. The list of all winners and runners-up in 56 skill areas is available for download below.
