The FIFA Fan Fest™ venues located in the eleven host cities have today been revealed following the Board Meeting of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Local Organising Committee (LOC). In Kazan, the FIFA Fan Fest will be held in the square in front of the Kazan Family Centre. The venue will be able to accommodate 30,000 football fans.
“Kazan picked a very comfortable location to host the FIFA Fan Fest both in terms of logistics and broadcasting. The location appeared in Kazan quite recently, but it has quickly become a new tourist attraction. The venue was designed by Russian painter and sculptor Dashi Namdakov and was officially named the Kazan Family Centre, but the locals call it ‘chasha’ (the Russian word for ‘cup’),” said Tatarstan’s Minister of Youth Affairs and Sport, Vladimir Leonov.
Thе architectural concept of the building reflects the culture, history and national patterns of the republic. The family centre is constructed in the shape of a ‘kazan’, a large cooking pot, which serves as a reminder of the region’s rich historical traditions and national diversity, and symbolises one of the versions of the city’s origin.
The Kazan Family Centre is an integral part of the city’s impressive architectural panorama which also includes the Kazan Kremlin, Syuyumbike Tower, Annunciation Cathedral and Kul Sharif Mosque.
