Kazan may become the venue for the FISU (International University Sports Federation) Annual olunteer Camp.
The corresponding project was presented today at a meeting of participants of the FISU Committee for the Development of University Sports and the Director General of the Directorate of Sports and Social Projects, Azat Kadyrov. The proposal for a camp was supported by the Committee and has been submitted for approval by the Executive Committee of FISU. The meeting was attended by the reappointed General Advisor to the FISU President, Igor Sivov.
It is proposed that guests of the camp will take part in seminars on the development of university sports and work with volunteers. Master classes will be conducted by well-known sportsmen and public figures. Participants in the project will become holders of special certificates, and in future will be able to become assistants to the FISU, organising committees of the World University Games and World University Championships.
A base for organisation of the volunteer camp exists in Kazan. Shifts were carried out at the stage of formation of the volunteer movement in the region. "It was the 'starting' camp for the implementation of volunteer programmes in preparation for the 2013 Summer Universiade, the FINA World Championships, and others. Participants of the FISU Camp, if our initiative is adopted, will include representatives of 167 national university federations, which are members of FISU or university leaders of student volunteer centres around the world. A total of up to 350 participants," said Deputy Director General of the Directorate of Sports and Social Projects, Alexander Karpov. According to him, the sites for the camp under consideration are Kazan Mountain Skiing, Sports and Fitness Complex and Innopolis.
It should be noted that at the meeting, Azat Kadyrov also expressed a number of ideas aimed at developing university sports, the involvement of the world's universities in the student movement, and positioning of FISU as the driver of the university sports movement. The proposals include the creation of university rankings by sports development, enhancing the role of the FISU festival as part of promotion of a healthy lifestyle and university sports and staging world finals among university sports teams, on the example of 3x3 basketball. The proposals have been adopted by the committee for further development.
The head of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects became a member of the FISU Committee for the Development of University Sports after elections and changes in the structure of the federation. The committee is engaged in the analysis and evaluation of the projects proposed for the implementation of continental and national university sports federations.
